While they spent a romantic Thanksgiving together, Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift rang in the New Year separately — and apparently the new couple is no longer a couple. “They’re over,” a source tells People magazine. “It ended last month.” And according to Us Weekly, it was Gyllenhaal who initiated the split. “He said he wasn’t feeling it anymore and was uncomfortable with all the attention they got,” a source says. “He also said he could feel the age difference. Taylor is really upset. We told her not to move so fast with this but she didn’t listen.”

Just days after announcing his separation from wife Elaine Irwin, word is out that John Mellencamp is reportedly dating Meg Ryan. “Meg has liked John for a long time and they are very comfortable together. They already looked like an old married couple when they strolled through the West Village or spent time on Martha's Vineyard,” a source tells Popeater. “They don’t care what people say. They are in love.”

Lindsay Lohan may be out of rehab, but she isn’t necessarily out of trouble with the law. Officials from the Palm Desert Police Department released a statement claiming Lohan violated her probation when she allegedly got into a fight with a Betty Ford Center employee last month. “The investigation determined Ms. Lohan violated several aspects of her probation, including the battery [charge],” the reports claims. Lohan’s lawyer, Shawn Holley Chapman, isn’t thrilled by the news, telling People magazine, “The important, yet limited, investigatory role of the police to gather facts and collect evidence is well-established. The fact that the Palm Desert Police Department went outside this limited role to issue a press statement expressing its opinion about what should happen in Ms. Lohan's case is highly unusual and deeply troubling

Christina Aguilera reportedly celebrated her 30th birthday last month with a very special gift from new boyfriend Mattew Rutler: a ring. But sources tell People magazine that it doesn’t mean the couple is taking the plunge. “It’s not an engagement ring and they’re not engaged,” a source says. While they’re not talking about walking down the aisle yet, Rutler has been spending a lot of time with Aguilera’s family, especially her son, Max. “It seems very important to Christina that Max gets along with Matt,” the source says.

Elton John and husband David Furnish are now the proud parents of a baby boy, Zachary, born on Christmas Day by a surrogate mother, and the “Rocket Man” singer is reportedly the biological father, according to Popeater. “Elton really wanted the child to have his genes,” a source says. “He has a god-given talent and wanted to pass that one to a child. And after years of discussion and thought, Elton and David decided together that Elton’s sperm would be used.”

Alec Baldwin is looking to get into politics, he admits to Eliot Spitzer during an interview on CNN. “It’s something I’m very interested in. I do believe that people want to believe that someone who deeply cares about the middle class ... would like to seek public office,” the “30 Rock” star says. “We’ve had men who are Ivy League-groomed running this country since 1988. We’ve had men, regardless of their background, 22 years of Yale and Harvard, and the problems aren’t getting solved.”
