Chairman of Chung-Ang Foundation Park Yong Sung (74) said that he would resign from all posts amid controversy over his use of profanity. This is because of the profanity he has used regarding the forthcoming school restructuring measures. Park had prompted an uproar from Chung-Ang University professors after he threatened those opposing the board's plans to alter the university's admission process through vulgar remarks made in an email sent out to the president of CAU and some 20 professors at the university. Park had written, "It isn't good manners to not strike ones neck when one has asked for it" and that he "would strike in the most bloody and painful way possible," vowing to use his "authority over faculty appointment to take revenge" on those opposing the board's plans. 94.4% of the professors opposed to the restructuring. The professors and the students of CAU are criticizing the irresponsible action taken against the decision regarding the resignation of the former chairman Park. CAU is scheduled to convene an emergency board of directors meeting soon to discuss Park's profanity.

[글로벌 코리아]'막말 파문' 박용성, 중대 이사장 사퇴

중앙대 재단 이사장인 박용성(74) 두산중공업 회장이 이사장직과 회장직을 모두 사퇴했다. 대학 구조조정과 관련한 막말 파문 때문이다. 박 전 이사장은 대기업식 구조조정을 강하게 추진해 거센 반발을 샀다.

박 전 이사장은 지난달 24일 막말이 담긴 이메일을 대학 구조조정에 반대하는 총장과 보직교수 등 20여명에게 보냈다. 이메일에는 "인사권을 가진 내가 법인을 시켜서 모든 걸 처리한다. 그들이 제 목을 쳐 달라고 목을 길게 뺐는데 안 쳐주면 예의가 아니다"고 적혀 있다. 또 "가장 피가 많이 나고 고통스러운 방법으로 내가 쳐줄 것"이라는 글도 적혀 있다.

앞서 중대 교수들은 학사구조 개편안에 대해 92.4％가 반대했다. 이메일을 보낸 배경으로 짐작된다. 박 전 이사장의 사퇴 결정을 두고 중대 교수와 학생들은 무책임한 처사라고 비판하고 있다. 중대는 조만간 이사회를 열어 이사장 사임에 따른 후속 조치를 논의하기로 했다.
