Samsung is closing all the chemical-related-businesses. According to the financial market, Samsung has decided to sell the remained chemical-related-businesses to Lotte. The price is about 3trillion won, which is the biggest deal in Korea.

Samsung SDI held a board meeting on the 30th of October and decided to separate the chemical-related-businesses out and also make a separate corporate body for it, and then sell all the shares to Lotte Chemistry. The price is 2.58 trillion won. And Samsung SDI will sell the 14.65% share of Synthetic chemistry, which is the whole share of the chemistry sector from Samsung SDI, to Lotte Chemical.

Besides Samsung SDI, the subsidiaries of Samsung will hand over the whole share to Lotte Samsung electronics(8.39%), Samsung Produce(5.59%), Sinra Hotel(2.24%), Samsung electricity(0.26%), which is 31.23% in total. The price is about 465 billion won which is 80,311,190 shares.

With the disposal of Samsung synthetic chemistry, the management and the share of Samsung BP will be handed over to Lotte as well. BP chemical now has 51% and Synthetic chemistry has 49% of the whole share of Samsung BP chemical.

Lotte will become the 'Big 3' in chemical business after this big deal, and Hanhwa, which took over LG chemistry and the subsidiaries of petro-chemistry of Samsung are going to compete in the market. M&A 큰 장, 재계판도 바꾼다

삼성그룹이 화학 관련 사업을 모두 정리한다. 1일 재계에 따르면 삼성그룹은 남아있던 화학계열사를 모두 롯데그룹에 매각하기로 했다. 매각 금액은 3조원 안팎으로 국내 화학업계 최대 빅딜이다.

삼성SDI은 지난달 30일 이사회를 열고 케미칼 사업 부문을 분할해 신설법인을 설립한 후 해당 지분 전량을 롯데케미칼에 매각하기로 결정했다. 매각 금액은 2조5850억원이다. 이와 함께 자사가 보유한 삼성정밀화학 지분 14.65% 전량을 2189억원에 롯데케미칼에 매각하기로 했다. 삼성SDI 외에 삼성전자(8.39%), 삼성물산(5.59%), 호텔신라(2.24%), 삼성전기(0.26%) 등 4개 계열사들도 보유한 지분 전량(31.23%)을 롯데케미칼로 넘기기로 결정했다. 총 매각 지분은 803만11190주로 4650억원 상당이다. 삼성BP화학은 삼성정밀화학 매각에 따라 경영권과 지분이 롯데로 넘어간다. 삼성BP화학은 BP케미칼이 51%, 삼성정밀화학이 49%의 지분을 보유하고 있다.



한편, 이번 빅딜로 롯데그룹은 LG화학 및 삼성의 석유화학부문 계열사들을 인수한 한화그룹 등과 함께 화학분야 '빅3'로 떠오르며 치열한 시장경쟁을 벌일 전망이다. LG화학은 22조5800억원, 한화 석유화학 계열사들은 19조3091억원이며 이번 빅딜로 롯데 석유화학부문은 19조2083억원(지난해 기준)의 매출을 각각 기록하고 있다./스피킹전문 EDB 영어회화학원 대표강사 닥터 벤
